TXST Grocery Stores Shuttle

TXST Grocery Stores Shuttle offers a shuttle to grocery stores in Austin on a bi-weekly basis on Saturdays only. This service is open to all TXST students. At this point, we are not able to accommodate family members or friends not affiliated with TXST.

There will be no service during university closures or otherwise notified.

Registered attendees should meet at Thornton International House, Texas State University, 344 W Woods St, San Marcos, TX.

Texas State Shuttle
  • Chinatown Center—10901 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin, TX 78753 
  • Hana World Market—1700 W. Parmer Ln #100 Austin, TX 78727 
  • Desi Brothers—2506 W. Parmer Lane #170 Austin, TX 78727 
  • Manpas and Grocery—13945 North 183 Lakeline Mall Dr. Austin, TX 78717 

Please note that you will only be able to visit 2 stores from the schedule provided above. You will get 1 hour in each store.

Important Notes

TXST
  • Each participant must reserve their seat prior to boarding the shuttle. The bus's capacity is 40 passengers. If the shuttle is full for the selected day, try for a future day. 
  • You cannot make multiple reservations at one time. Once your reservation is made, you cannot make another reservation for ten days. This is to allow as many students as possible to have access to this service.  
  • The University is not responsible for damages or transportation costs if the participant missed the return bus.  
  • Participants are encouraged to make a grocery shopping list before arriving at the store to expedite the shopping process to board the return bus on time. 
  • Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable grocery bags. Grocery stores in Austin will not bag your groceries in plastic bags.

9:15 a.m. Depart Texas State University from Thornton International House
11:00 a.m. Arrive at Chinatown Center to pick up shoppers.
12:00 p.m.         Arrive at Chinatown Center to pick up final group.
12:35 p.m. Everyone depart Austin
10:00a.m. Arrive at Chinatown Center. Depart immediately after everyone gets off that wants to shop there.
11:10 a.m Arrive at Hana World Market to pick up or drop off shoppers.
12:10 p.m.         Arrive at Hana World Market to pick up final group.
1:30 p.m.          Arrive back to Thornton International House at Texas State University
10:10 a.m. Arrive at Hana World Market. Depart immediately after everyone gets off that wants to shop there.
11:15 a.m.         Arrive at Desi Brothers to pick up or drop off shoppers.
12:15 p.m.         Arrive at Desi Brothers to pick up final group.

More Shuttle Route Details

Route 1: You will be dropped off at your chosen first store.
Route 2: Afterward, you’ll be picked up from your first store and transported to your selected second store.

Once your hour at the second store concludes, you will board the shuttle for your return trip to San Marcos.

Shuttle Policy

  • Students who sign up for the Grocery Shuttle Service must sign in when they board the shuttle and sign out when they leave the shuttle.
  • If a student does not return to San Marcos with the Austin shuttle, they will be identified on subsequent trips and will no longer be permitted to use the shuttle service.
