Become An I-Mentor

Spring 2025 Applications are Closed

What does an I-Mentor look like?

In I-Mentor, one or two current international students will be assigned as a mentor to a group of 5 to 7 mentees (new international students). Mentors and mentees in a group will start communicating with each other about 6 weeks before the mentee's first semester at Texas State University starts. They continue to build mentorship throughout the mentee's first semester at Texas State University through group gathering and I-Mentor meetups. Before mentees' arrival in the US, they may ask their assigned mentors about immediate concerns such as housing and transportation. After they move to the US, their questions to mentors may shift to daily necessities (stores, banks, and local transportation), on-campus resources, and navigating cultural differences.
